JMW & Barn Door UK advise Pulseroll on Anthony Joshua deal
JMW Solicitors LLP has advised Manchester-based percussion muscle therapy and recovery brand, Pulseroll, on a deal which sees two time Heavyweight Champion of the World and Olympic Gold Medallist, Anthony Joshua OBE, become an investor and ambassador in the business.
Joshua, who has been using Pulseroll’s full range of vibration massage devices for nearly five years, will also join the company’s board of directors in an advisory capacity.
Ben Peppi, Head of Sports Services at JMW Solicitors and who leads on the Barn Door UK platform, advised Pulseroll on the deal and said: “This deal acts as the perfect case study for our Barn Door platform. AJ becoming an investor, brand ambassador and specialist adviser to Pulseroll is a huge moment for the business and we are delighted to have played a part in making this deal happen. The AJ deal is the latest in a number of partnerships I have been involved in for Pulseroll as they continue to build a Best of British brand, including British Gymnastics, British Rowing, top football clubs including Burnley, Sheffield United and Norwich City, Premiership Rugby clubs including Sale Sharks & Leicester Tigers and leading cricket clubs such as Middlesex.”
Legal advice on the deal was provided by Stephen Taylor Heath, a partner in the Commercial team and Head of Sports Law at JMW Solicitors who advised on the commercial aspects including AJ’s ambassador role and Mark Heppell, a partner in the Corporate team who advised on the investment aspects.
Stephen said: “This is yet another illustration of the level of leveraged deal we are capable of supporting for leading athlete ambassadors.”
Paul McCabe, Founder & CEO of Pulseroll, said: ‘Ben’s commercial expertise has been invaluable throughout the process in leading on this deal and ensuring AJ becomes an investor, ambassador and specialist adviser to the business. It is a very proud moment for me and I couldn’t have done it without Ben’s support and the legal advice provided by Stephen and Mark, who both played a key part in closing the deal and were exemplary throughout’.
JMW Solicitors LLP has been ranked number 33 in 2020 The Sunday Times 'Best Companies' to work for listing. The listing is compiled from a survey of company staff across all sectors. JMW was the second law firm within the top 100.
